What Do You Talk About When You See an Old Friend?
It’s been a while since we last spoke.
Then, out of the blue, a friend I hadn’t heard from in years messaged me:
“I’ve been working on something new. Want to take a look?”

In his office, he placed two prototypes on the table — same shape, same size, about as big as a smartphone, but made from different materials.
When I picked up the first one, I was caught off guard by its weight.
It was like reaching for Thor’s hammer thinking it was just an ordinary hammer — my arm almost stalled mid-air.
Okay, maybe that’s a little dramatic, but you know the feeling: expecting an empty cup and discovering it’s full. That’s when I realized — it was metal. All metal.
It felt reassuringly solid, like holding a full can of craft beer fresh from the fridge — cold, firm, and impossible to ignore. The aluminum shell was hard, smooth, and perfectly balanced. Not front-heavy, not awkward — just right.
Then he told me the other one was “different.”
From the outside, the only obvious change was a deeper shade of black. I assumed it was just the paint.
I reached out again.
This time, I expected weight — but my hand lifted it with almost no effort. Like thinking you’re picking up a mug of water, only to find it’s empty. I laughed — one product, two surprises. It was so light it defied its own size, yet the hard-shell feel remained. And somehow, the faux-metal finish looked just as convincing as the real thing.
I took both home. I’ll be using them for a while before saying more.
If you’re curious, go ahead — guess what this product might be.
